Cititoy, a leading global toy manufacturer is currently designing in preparation for the construction of its new factory, PT Kids Play Indonesia in Subang Smartpolitan. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on 9 December 2024 represents a major step forward in the company’s growth strategy and reinforces Subang Smartpolitan as a leading industrial hub.
Founded in 1979 under the name Cititoy, the company has established a solid reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality toys. The company’s commitment to growth has led to its establishment in Indonesia with the founding of its new factory, PT Kids Play Indonesia in an integrated township, Subang Smartpolitan. This new factory will produce a diverse range of toys to meet global market demands.
PT Kids Play Indonesia is set to make a significant investment of USD 60 million to build a 10-hectare advanced production facility in the Subang Smartpolitan industrial estate.
“We were drawn to Indonesia’s competitive business landscape and the strategic advantages offered by Subang Smartpolitan,” said Mr. Ken Cheung, President Director of PT Kids Play Indonesia. “After careful consideration, we are confident that this new factory will enable us to meet the growing global demand for our products.”
“This groundbreaking ceremony embarks on a journey to build a sustainable future. Hand-in-hand with the community, we prioritize creating a positive environment. This project is more than just a business venture, it’s a commitment to strive and bring the best outcome for the community, environment, and economy together in harmony,” Ken added.
The Phase 1 construction is targeted to be completed and ready for production by September 2025.
All products will be fully exported to international markets, significantly contributing to Indonesia’s export performance. This export process will utilize Patimban Seaport which will be integrated with Subang Smartpolitan through the Patimban Access Toll Road in early 2026.
Cahyo Purnomo, Investment Promotion Director for East Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Africa of Ministry of Investment/BKPM who also attended the event mentioned that “Certainly, we, the Ministry of Investment and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), welcome this investment plan. This indicates that the investment climate in Indonesia in general, including in West Java or specifically in Subang, is quite conducive as well as competitive, and can compete with other countries and regions. This is certainly the result of hard work from various parties.”
“We certainly hope that all levels of the central government, regional governments, including various related parties to provide the necessary support so that the construction process can run on schedule until the company can finally start commercial production and then export their products abroad. This certainly provides various benefits for all of us, not only for the national economy but also the regional economy, creating jobs, and so on,” Cahyo included.
Located in the new corridor of the fast-growing industrial area, Subang Smartpolitan offers high accessibility through an integrated infrastructure network, including the Trans Java Toll Road, Patimban Access Toll Road, Patimban Seaport, Kertajati International Airport, and the high-speed rail project. The combination of adequate national strategic infrastructure with smart infrastructure within the estate will support the smooth running of the entire supply chain, from raw material procurement to product distribution to the global market.
The trust given by PT Kids Play Indonesia further strengthens Subang Smartpolitan’s position as a new hub of economic growth in Indonesia. This also proves again that this industrial estate is able to provide a conducive business environment for investors.
Binawati Dewi, General Manager of Sales & Tenant Relations of Subang Smartpolitan, expresses her enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to welcome PT Kids Play Indonesia to Subang Smartpolitan. This investment will not only create job opportunities for the local community but also stimulate regional economic development. We are committed to providing comprehensive support to our investors to ensure their success.”
The presence of this new industry is expected to have a sustainable positive impact, including an increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), local economic growth, as well as improving the quality and absorption of labor. This is in line with the vision of PT Suryacipta Swadaya as the developer and management of Subang Smartpolitan to “Building a Better Indonesia” through every business activity that positively impacts society.
The construction of this factory not only benefits PT Kids Play Indonesia but also makes a positive contribution to the surrounding community and the Indonesian economy as a whole. It is estimated that this factory will absorb a workforce of more than 4,000 people and contribute to the growth of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Subang Regency.
