PT Suryacipta Swadaya (Suryacipta), the developer and manager of both Suryacipta City of Industry and Subang Smartpolitan, recently co-hosted the Indonesia China Business Community Dinner. The event took place on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Tien Chao Restaurant, Gran Meliá Jakarta.
Over 90 entrepreneurs and corporate representatives from both China and Indonesia, including current and prospective investors, attended the dinner. Lucky guests also enjoyed door prizes provided by Gran Meliá Jakarta. The primary goal of the evening was to cultivate stronger relationships and expand business networks between Indonesian and Chinese investors.
Binawati Dewi, General Manager of Sales & Tenant Relations at Suryacipta, commented, “We are optimistic that through networking events such as the Indonesia China Business Community Dinner, we can strengthen the relations between Indonesia and China by cultivating connections and developing strategic collaborative initiatives among business actors and also with government entities in the future.”
Meanwhile, Septian Hario Seto, Deputy for Investment and Mining Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, emphasized the vital role of honesty and communication in overcoming investment challenges in Indonesia. “I believe that addressing challenges effectively requires a strong foundation of trust and credibility. These essential elements are crucial for facilitating problem-solving in Indonesia,” he stated.
Furthermore, Septian Hario Seto added that the easiest thing investors can do to facilitate the investment process in Indonesia is to choose locations within industrial estates and/or Special Economic Zones (SEZs). This is because issues related to specific land regulations, environmental permits, and others are handled by the industrial estate and/or SEZ operators, which he believed would have already solved 50 percent of the problems in investing in Indonesia.
China has been a significant contributor to Indonesia’s economic development. Since 2016, China has consistently ranked among the top three countries providing Indonesia’s highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Suryacipta has also experienced this trend, with over 50 percent of inquiries received at Suryacipta City of Industry and Subang Smartpolitan coming from Chinese companies. One of the realizations of this investment is Yadea, a leading two-wheeled electric vehicle manufacturer from China, which held the groundbreaking ceremony at Suryacipta City of Industry, Karawang, in May 2024.
Subang Smartpolitan, with its concept of a “Green, Smart, and Sustainable City”, has recently been chosen as the production location for BYD, a global leader in the electric vehicle manufacturing industry. Additionally, Subang Smartpolitan has also gained the trust of other Chinese companies operating in the hi-tech garment, automotive parts, electronics, and other sectors.
These investments from innovative, leading manufacturers are tangible proof of Suryacipta’s dedication to its vision of “Building a Better Indonesia,” underscoring the importance of sustainability in business development.
The presence of international companies who share this vision is expected to bring significant and lasting contributions to the economic, social, and environmental growth of the surrounding areas. This will be achieved through job creation, technology transfer, and positive multiplier effects.
Suryacipta’s engagement in the Indonesia China Business Community Dinner is expected to help expand its network and attract more investors to Subang Smartpolitan. The integrated township is currently being developed, with the construction of utility areas targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024. Therefore, Suryacipta is ready to welcome tenants interested in establishing their investments in Subang Smartpolitan.
