PT Suryacipta Swadaya, through its Suryacipta City of Industry in Karawang, has once again been chosen by China’s leading electric two-wheel vehicle company as the site for its new manufacturing plant. On Monday, May 13, 2024, PT Yadea Technology Indonesia held its groundbreaking ceremony at Suryacipta City of Industry. This marks Yadea’s strong commitment to expanding into the Indonesian market and introducing revolutionary green mobility solutions to the Indonesian people.
After successful market tests in Indonesia since March 2023, Yadea is confident in the immense potential of the Indonesian market. This confidence is further boosted by positive government policy support and the availability of high-quality supporting facilities. Yadea believes its products will become a popular choice for Indonesians seeking eco-friendly, stylish, and affordable mobility options.
Largest Factory in Southeast Asia, Massive Investment to Meet Domestic and Export Demand
Yadea’s new manufacturing plant in Suryacipta is set to be its largest in Southeast Asia and its eighth globally. This significant investment follows the Sale and Purchase Agreement signed on May 6, 2024, where Yadea acquired a 27-hectare industrial plot from Suryacipta.
The facility, dedicated to producing two-wheeled electric vehicles, is scheduled to begin operations in 2026. It’s targeted to have an impressive annual production capacity of 3 million units, serving both the Indonesian domestic market and export demands from neighboring countries like Malaysia, Timor Leste, and Thailand. The total investment for this ambitious project, spanning from 2024 to 2028, is estimated to exceed USD 150 million.
Yadea’s Commitment to Indonesia: New Jobs, Technology Transfer, and Research
In his speech, Mr. Wang Jinlong, General Manager of PT Yadea Teknologi Indonesia, stated: “The start of construction of Yadea’s smart factory in Indonesia signifies that our globalization has entered an important step. This is also our promise to the vast Indonesian market. In the future, we will bring in the most advanced tools and technology from Yadea, creating a factory that is modern, smart, digital, and environmentally friendly. We will make a research center here to meet the demand of the Indonesian people.”
He concluded by emphasizing the plant’s broader impact: “Once the plant is established, it is expected to create more than 3,000 new jobs. In addition, Yadea will also actively train new local experts together to drive sustainable growth here.”
Suryacipta is the Ideal Location for Global Electric Vehicle Industry
Abednego Purnomo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Suryacipta, expressed his pride in Yadea’s decision to establish its smart plant within Suryacipta City of Industry.
“Congratulations to Yadea on this groundbreaking ceremony,” Abednego stated. “We are honored to be trusted to be the home of a world-class two-wheeled electric vehicle manufacturing plant like Yadea. This trust is in line with our company vision, ‘Building a Better Indonesia,’ where we are always committed to maintaining a balance between business and contribution to economic, social, and environmental progress.”
Yadea is optimistic about its new manufacturing plant, with future plans to produce batteries in Indonesia and even expand its facility. While details remain undisclosed by Abednego Purnomo, this signal of Yadea’s impending expansion is certainly welcome news for Suryacipta City of Industry.
Yadea chose Suryacipta City of Industry in Karawang for several key reasons: its strategic location near Jakarta and within a robust supply chain, professional area management, and the invaluable one-stop service provided by Suryacipta Center of Information (SCI), which significantly aids tenants in establishing their businesses in Indonesia.
The arrival of Yadea’s electric two-wheeled vehicle plant is set to make a substantial contribution to Indonesia’s manufacturing industry. Furthermore, the local community will benefit from a significant multiplier effect, including the creation of new job opportunities that will help boost the regional economy.
